How self care can help you through depression?
Everywhere you turn you hear something about self-care. Self-care is extremely important. The importance of self-care is you.
Everywhere you turn you hear something about self-care. Self-care is extremely important. The importance of self-care is you. Yes as corny as it sounds it's your superpower. Here is the key to that superpower when you are at that low place it is hard to get to that place where you can manage even the smallest self-care.
I am speaking on that low place where the bed is the only thing that makes life manageable. What do you do then? When life is sitting on your chest stopping you from managing it even a little bit. It starts from the moment you open your eyes. 8-minute bed yoga may be the solution to get your day started. In the bed doing a few stretches and downward dogs help. Getting in motion seems to change your mindset. It's not that simple and I am not going to tell you it is. What I will tell you is it's possible.
In addition to adding movement getting a therapist helps. I know many people think it's just a conversation but it's a little more than that. It's the way they listen actively and attend to your emotions in the sessions. This allows you to work through your challenges and opens the door for changes.
To add journaling works, the format of releasing your concerns of today helps release emotions. Creating an affirmation to address the habits and changes you would like to make is key to creating the life you would like. To add you are worth it.
Tips:
- Set small measurable goals (if it needs to be just turning over in the bed twice a day, that's fine)
- Be kind to yourself
- Become slightly more active weekly
- It may sound off but experience life with all 5 senses. Find something that feels, tastes, smells, sounds, and looks good.
- Keep a routine.
